World Cup Qualifiers: CAR surprises Nigerian Super Eagles

The Central African Republic won 1-0 over the Nigerian Super Eagles. Which led to a big commotion at the Teslim Balogun Stadium today, 7th October, 2021.

The Central African Republic national team nicknamed the Wild Beast earned their name from the late goal that broke the hearts of the three-time African champions, despite being ranked 90 place behind Nigeria.

The visitors benefited from a miscalculation between William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun, who turned to Carl Namnganda to shot past goalkeeper Francis Uzoho.

The Super Eagles dominated the whole game but couldn’t measure their dominance.

The Super Eagles hope they can recover in Douala in four days when they face the same team again.

Despite dropping points in Lagos, the Super Eagles remain top of Group C with six points after three games, while the Central African Republic now has four points, as Cape Verde also beat Liberia away from home this same day.
